2026 is the Year of the Horse, symbolizing immediate success and a promising future. Centering on the theme of Song brocade horse pendants, the event embedded auspicious Chinese blessings into exquisite traditional brocade craftsmanship, conveying sincere wishes for peace and prosperity.

We specially invited Teacher Yuan, a senior inheritor with over ten years of experience in intangible cultural heritage Song brocade, to share the profound history, exquisite weaving techniques and cultural connotations of Song brocade. As the top one among China’s four famous brocades, Song brocade features elegant patterns, delicate craftsmanship and mild colors, representing the minimalist and refined aesthetics of the Song Dynasty and serving as a precious national intangible cultural heritage. With detailed explanations, all participants gained an in-depth understanding of the time-honored weaving heritage and the ingenuity behind every thread.

Craft with Fingertips, Embrace the Charm of Intangible Heritage

After the theoretical sharing, the handcraft session officially began. Exquisite Song brocade fabrics, delicate horse-shaped metal ornaments and elegant tassels were prepared for residents to create exclusive artworks. Though the pendant looks simple, its production requires great patience and meticulousness. Every detail, including fabric cutting, pattern layout, edge finishing and color matching, needs precise adjustment.

The scene was filled with an elegant and peaceful atmosphere. Every resident concentrated on their creation. Some chose peony-patterned brocade to symbolize prosperity and good fortune, while others adjusted the fabric repeatedly to pursue a more harmonious composition. During the two-hour immersive handcraft time, neighbors communicated and created together, escaping the hustle and bustle of the city and feeling the unique charm of traditional craftsmanship.

Every completed Song brocade horse pendant boasts gorgeous woven textures and flowing tassels, combining the ancient elegance of traditional Song brocade and unique personal creativity. These delicate works carry the tenderness of early autumn, the ingenuity of intangible heritage and sincere blessings, bringing every participant a strong sense of accomplishment and a deeper understanding of elegant Chinese lifestyle.
